Why does the Print dialog take awhile to come up?
Last Updated 8 years ago

This is caused by an unresponsive printer or CD/DVD drive on the machine or network. Check your control panel for any printers that are not responding or are offline and remove them. (A good way to check is to print a Windows test page to each printer and see if they all print the page fairly quickly...) Also if you have a CD/DVD drive that has a solid green light, unplug it, reboot the machine and then plug it back in. If the drive is still not responding you should keep it unplugged.

To troubleshoot the issue further, the next step would be to incrementally remove each printer driver from Control Panel> Devices and Printers, by right clicking and choosing Remove Device. Remove one printer, run SureThing, and try printing. Eventually you will find the culprit printer, and the print dialog will come right up. Next, download and install the latest printer driver(s) from the manufacturer's websites and try printing again. The print dialog should come right up.

If you don't want to do that, you can try renaming the printaddon folder. Note, this will cause issues with direct to disc printers, but should allow you to print. To do this, browse to the SureThing program directory (C:\Program Files\SureThing Disc Labeler 6\), and rename the folder PrintAddOn to something else, such as PrintAddOnRenamed. Now launch SureThing and try printing.
