Ticket Numbers, Increments and Formatting
Last Updated 5 years ago

You have control over the starting number for ticket numbers, how they are incremented and how they are displayed. To perform any of these actions, you need to use the Set Ticket Number Properties from the Ticket Numbers panel on the left side of the window:

This will bring up the Ticket Number Properties Dialog box.

Ticket Number Values
Change the starting number and increment to control how the tickets are numbered. The above settings will provide sequential ticket numbers starting at 1. Because of the ticket formatting (see below), there will be at least five digits. The numbers would be displayed 00001, 00002 and so forth. If you would like to only print even numbered tickets, use 0 for the starting number and 2 for the increment.

Ticket Number Formatting
You can also control how the numbers are displayed. Ticket Maker uses the # sign to represent the minimum number of digits. So if your formatting shows five # signs as above (#####), you will always have at least five digits to your number, padded with leading zeros if necessary. If your starting number were 10, your number would be displayed as 00010. If it were 50,000, however, it would simply be 50000.

You can also have separators in your number. Our presets (drop down the Ticket Number Formatting box) have a variety of formats you can use. For example, your format may be ##-###. With a starting number of 33,000, it would be displayed as 33-000. This can be beneficial when creating different batches of tickets to hand out, with a segment number to differentiate each batch.

The separator we use is always the hyphen or dash character, "-", but it can be anything. If you want your ticket number segments separated by a period, use ##.###, or with a space use ## ###. You can experiment with different combinations to find what you like. The preview will always show you how it looks by using the starting number.

Reset numbers after printing
Checking this box will revert the number sequences back to the starting number after each print. If you are printing raffle tickets that require unique numbers, you probably want to leave this unchecked. If you running an event that repeats on a regular basis and you don't need unique numbers each time, you might like to check this box. Remember that if it is left unchecked, you need to save your project file after printing or the new starting number will be lost.
